Because many can't subscribe to subscribestar. Patreon has those rules to have access to more creditcards.
Yes mainly because Patreon has more Payment methods. Many that try and create AVN's chose Patreon over Substar as they see Subs as Moneybags. Wouldn't they care that much about Money then they would go over to Substar without a second thought as they have much more freedom with their AVN's.

well, this game is very strange, no user control over any part of the gui interface, literally no preferences button at all....

Do you think (probably do) that Patreon was suddenly inundated with smut-hatting employees? No, they weren't! Go above Patreon, and you have their shareholders, advertisers, and the banks that Patreon uses to move the money around. Those three entities pull the strings. They are all trying to avoid any possible litigious actions and public ridicule. Put yourself in the mind of a business owner. Do you walk on the edge of public outcry or play it safe to protect your profits?
(I know what you will say, so ignore list here you come) :sneaky:
I'd be like SS, keep it private so no shareholders to appease (though Patreon is private anyway as well, at least for now), and as far as banks and what not learn from Patreon's fuck-up and put a couple layers of shell companies between me and the payment processors so they are kept in the dark (yes, that's legal, at least in the US). They seem to be doing well for a small-team operation despite some peoples' opinions of them that they don't seem to care much about, nor should they (lots of negative news articles on them and what they allow, supposedly profiting from child exploitation, promoting hate, prostitution, etc). Sure, not the $200m a year Patreon makes, and probably not even 10% of that, but who cares? They don't need that much if the team is kept small. More money =/= more happiness after about $200-500k a year per person anyway and not everyone is a greedy bastard aiming for the billionaire bragging right, principles (like anti-censorship) come before profits for some.

Bro it came out 16 hours ago and it's already on hold, that's a new record :LUL:
lol I thought that myself at first, but it came out in January. Why the repost then? Apparently simply getting put on hold (due to what should have been foreseeable with Patreon banning it) or other status change is enough for a repost.

Patreon did not start with the main intention of supporting sex-related creators. It just became part of the business later.

More make-believe scenarios: Are you happy running the world from your computer screen? :sneaky:

Not sure what you think I was implying but that's not it bucko. If you read my next comment you'd see I don't blame Patreon employees for their company's misdirection but paypal who's pushing the changes.
Don't get me wrong, patreon trust and safety team is the financial equivalent to over enthusiastic discord/reddit mods. Definitely a bunch of neck beard losers, but it's not their fault that the fundamentalists have taken over.

More make-believe scenarios; obviously, few here know how to run a business profitably. Are you happy running the world from your computer screen? :sneaky:
Obviously whoever is running SS is doing ok enough to stay in business even with just half of Patreon's 8% cut and probably half their traffic too, no censorship required other than what's required by US law (which often is still illegal in other countries they don't need to worry about, even if banned in this or that country VPNs are now a rather common thing to get around region blocks, even China's Great Firewall can't block everything).

Why do these stupid developers continue to use Patreon? Are they living under a rock completely cut off from all information? Literally the entire internet knows by now that if you do anything other than 100% vanilla AVN's on there, they're going to remove you. So they make their game, wait for the inevitable (sometimes weeks, sometimes years), and then they post being absolutely flabbergasted when the inevitable happens - "HUH?! What's happening? I don't understand! How could ANYONE have seen this coming?!!!". Seriously...these guys are hopeless. :ROFLMAO:
The only stuff I've seen have issues on Patreon is loli and incest. So, not completely vanilla. But, I also wonder why Patreon is still used for this stuff.

Because, at the end of the day, there really isn't a viable alternative. Patreon is a legitimate company you can hold accountable if they screw up. Consequently, they try to NOT screw up. The others? Not so much.

I'm a creator myself, not for AVNs though, and I can assure you: Subscribestar is a hellhole!

Since they don't have the same rules and regulations Patreon has to appease payment processors, they have a lot less payment processors willing to work with them. So, right off the bat, you lose a bunch of potential supporters because they don't have the one specific credit cart that works with subscribestar. If anything happens, even if it's just a completely unsubstantiated claim, they put your account on "pending review" for months, if not years, all the while still collecting money from your supporters but not paying it out to you. Because they haven't decided whether your account is worth it yet. They even go so far and continue collecting payments for your account after you closed it by... simply not closing it. Meaning you get angry messages from people calling you a fraudster for collecting money and then not delivering any of the promised benefits, since they don't understand that, in reality, you no longer have a SS account you could post to. It's just SS themselves refusing to close up that revenue stream.

Those are the 2 main ones but no where near all of them. Fetish Locator had to be redone due to blackmail. Others had to be redone due to rape and/or sleepsex. Hell even furries had to be censored with 2 render versions (one for Patreon other for SS) because some came too close to bestiality (a mostly-human werewolf with a dog dick = nope). They are just a bullshit site that no one should bother with and I wish they'd just ban all porn and be done with it like Youtube did long ago when Google bought them.

Most loli devs I'm subbed to if they are not on SS simply self-host their own page of their AVN showing what it's about and simply put their crypto wallet link on that. Apparently that alone is enough income/motivation for them to keep cranking out content, some have been up for 8+ years that I know of. The only SS accounts I've seen canceled were done by the devs themselves (like 13 Games) or it took them getting arrested like the Proud Father and Sides Of Life devs for SS to close them, other than a single one that was closed due to copyright crap, as it was used to fund another AVN site similar to this and most of the AVNs on it were those of other SS devs (kinda a conflict of interest).

Love to learn about who you sub and where you sub. I've only joined LC and look at the games+ sub. Is Sides of Life good? I can't seem to find a decent link for it.

It's sadly abandoned (which was actually a year before the devs legal issues) but what's there is pretty good to me. Personally I avoid abandoned tags myself, as I'm usually left depressed and pissed off when it ends on a cliffhangar and knowing there's no update coming to see what happens next. With that one I was a sub from the start (which I also don't do anymore, only after 0.3's).
